The weather is hotting up! Here are some Top Tips on how to keep your pet safe and happy during this hot weather spell.![]()
1) Provide shade and water โ make sure that your pet always has access to a shaded area and that plenty of fresh water is available for them throughout the day.![]()
2) Plan your dog walks โ walk your dog either early on in the morning or later in the evening, when temperatures are cooler. This will reduce their risk of heatstroke. Be particularly careful if your dog is elderly, overweight or suffers from breathing difficulties.![]()
3) Do the 5 second test โ tarmac and pavement surfaces can get very hot in the sun and potentially burn your dogโs paws. Check the pavement with your hand before letting your dog walk on it โ hold your hand down for five seconds, if itโs too hot for you, then itโs too hot for your dogโs paws.![]()
4) Donโt let them get burnt โ keep your pet out of direct sunlight where you can. Use pet-safe sun cream on exposed parts of your pets skin, such as the tips of their ears and nose. ![]()
5) Day Trips planned? - be mindful if your pet is going along with you to make sure there is plenty water available & shaded areas. Try to avoid dog walks in the full heat of the mid day sun.![]()

Meet Teddy the weight loss superstar!! Teddy came to see us initially for pain and discomfort with his hips after being diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Together we came up with a plan to manage his condition where we identified he could do with shedding a few pounds to help aid his future mobility and comfort.
With grit and determination, Teddy, his owners and our nurse Amy worked closely together creating an exercise regime and diet plan at their weigh clinics.
Over the last few months Teddy has lost an impressive 6.3kg!
It has been amazing to see his transformation & not only has he lost weight but he is much happier and relaxed coming in to the practice and now loves a good tummy scratch! Teddys overall quality of life has improved and is now showing to be much more comfort in his mobility.
Well done to Teddy, his mum and dad and our dedicated nurse Amy.![]()
Can we help your pet become more active and healthy?
