Core Vaccinations for Dogs

Your dog’s core vaccinations protect against highly contagious and potentially fatal diseases:

  • Distemper (D)
  • Hepatitis (H)
  • Parvovirus (P)
  • Leptospirosis (L4)
  • Kennel Cough (optional, but recommended in many cases)

We typically begin puppy vaccinations at 8 weeks, with a second dose at 10–12 weeks. Boosters are given annually or as advised.

  • Feline Calicivirus (FCV)

Rabbits

Core Vaccinations for Rabbits

For rabbits, core vaccines help prevent:

  • Myxomatosis
  • Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease type 1 (RHD1)
  • Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease type 2 (RHD2)

Rabbits can start their vaccines from around 5 weeks old, depending on the vaccine type used, with a booster usually given annually (some vaccines may require separate doses for full protection).

How to Prepare for Your Pet’s Vaccination

To help things go smoothly:

  • Bring any previous vaccination records with you.
  • If it’s your first time visiting, let us know and we can contact your previous vets to transfer medical history across keeping our vets up to speed on previous treatments and vaccinations your pet may have received.
  • Keep your pet calm and on a lead or in a carrier.
  • Avoid feeding right before the visit if your pet gets car sick.
  • If you’re unsure which vaccines your pet needs, we’ll assess that for you during your visit.

What Happens During a Vaccination Appointment?

A vaccination appointment for your pet includes:

  • A full health check clinical exam before any injection
  • Time to discuss any concerns or questions you have
  • The vaccination itself – quick and gentle
  • A follow-up plan if boosters or additional jabs are required

Most pets handle vaccines well, though a little sleepiness or mild soreness at the injection site afterwards is normal.

How Much Is a Pet Vaccination?

Our pricing is transparent, with no hidden extras.

Vaccination prices start from £44.00 depending on species and course. We’ll always confirm costs before proceeding.

What If You Don’t Know Your Pet’s Vaccination History?

No worries, we see this all the time. If you’re unsure when (or if) your dog or cat was last vaccinated:

  • Our vets can assess your pet and advise the safest plan
  • In some cases, we may recommend a restart of the course to ensure full protection
  • Blood tests (titre testing) may also be available if appropriate

It’s always better to start fresh than risk being unprotected.
